What is it?
Earn While You Learn (EWYL) is a one of a kind support and mentoring program for mothers and their families.
Support Includes:
- Educational resources on parenting
- Monthly visits for peer counseling support
- Opportunities to earn “Mommy Dollars” to buy basic necessities for pregnancy and baby
- Community referrals
What happens at my appointment?
During your appointment, you will meet with a volunteer peer counselor who will evaluate your needs, assign homework, and provide you with necessary supplies.
How do I earn “Mommy Dollars?”
- Attending scheduled monthly appointments
- Watching pregnancy or childcare videos
- Bringing in proof of well-child check ups or vaccinations
- Reading and summarizing books on pregnancy, childcare, etc.
- Attending classes (parenting, childbirth, mommy & me, etc.)
- Volunteering in the community
- Attend job training courses
- Donating new or gently used clothing or baby equipment
** Partners are also encouraged to participate in earning Mommy Dollars.
What are the program requirements?
- You and your family must have a significant need
- You must be pregnant or have a child under the age of 2
- Appointments are scheduled in advance- if you are unable to keep your appointment, you must give at least 48 hours notice by phone (310) 820-2560 ext. 21
Why this program was created?
Here at the Westside Pregnancy Clinic, we recognize the importance of responsible parenting and want to encourage parents to be caring and motivated. We desire that parents know that they are not alone and can rely on our program for resources and emotional support. It is our goal that parents who “Earn and Learn” will allow this educational experience to benefit their children’s lives as well as their own.
